Porter and Van

Man and van for a cheaper removal

Firstly man and van is a bad term, there are quality women removal companies in and around the UK.

A removal employee is known as a porter and this is for both men and women, and we shall now use the correct term which is Porter and van.

We are always looking to save money where we can, and using a quality porter and van can reduce your house removal costs.

How can a porter and van save me money?

A porter and van should be much cheaper per hour or set price than 2 porters and van or 3 porters etc etc, but by no means be less professional. Your chosen porter and van should arrive on time, with a reliable house removal van carry all furniture blankets, furniture straps and also be insured with at least £10,000 good in transit insurance.

Generally a porter and van will be charge you between £25.00 and £35.00 per hour and if they are VAT registered then this amount will require VAT of 20% adding on top. as a set day rate quote it could be around £200.00 to £300.00 plus vat.

What will a porter and van do?

Your chosen porter and van will be there to offer you help and advice but their main role will be to stack your belongings safely in the van. Now if you have agreed with your porter to help them carry your belongings to the van and its a relatively small removal then this will work great. If your move is of a medium to large in size then I would suggest you grab some mates and carry all the furniture and boxes to the van and this will allow your porter to stack the van safely.

What about exchange time, when using a porter and van?

This is where a porter and van will struggle, basically once the van is full, it will obviously need emptying and if you don’t have your keys to your new home, the van can not be emptied.

I would recommend using a porter and van if your only moving a smaller amount of items or if you already have your new keys and don’t require to hand your old keys that day.

If your move is larger, you could hire a van to place boxes and items you are comfortable moving yourself, this will not only help regards to being out of your old home but it is another way to save you time.

Make your move fun!

I understand ‘ fun and moving home ‘ isn’t generally spoken in the same sentence but using a porter and van can make a removal much more relaxed and enjoyable. Grab some mates, tea bags and try and have a laugh.

Ideally you need to pack your smaller items the day before but if your move is of the smaller variety, you could pack on the same day while your mates carry furniture your to chosen porter and van.

I hope this gives you a little insight into a porter and van and this could be your perfect house removal solution.
